Ellie Matlack, MA Intern

I believe every person is beautifully unique, carrying a story, strengths, and the capacity for growth within them. Our minds and souls are powerful, and therapy can be a safe, compassionate space to process, heal, and reconnect with your authentic self. I work with teenagers, adults, couples, families, and members of the LGBTQ+ community, and as a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself (she/her), I am passionate about creating an affirming space where clients feel seen, respected, and supported.

I have experience supporting clients navigating borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, and life transitions. My approach is person-centered and strengths-based, integrating DBT, CBT, and Family Systems Therapy to build emotional regulation, practical coping skills, and insight that leads to lasting change. At the heart of my work is a deep commitment to helping each client feel safe, empowered, and successful in their healing journey.

I earned my B.S. in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University with a concentration in Addiction Studies and a minor in Sociology, and I am completing my Master’s degree in Counselor Education with a focus on Couples and Family Counseling at Virginia Commonwealth University. My training reflects my dedication to understanding the complexity of human experience and supporting individuals, couples, and families as they grow together.

Seeking support takes courage, and you don’t have to face life’s challenges alone. I am honored to walk alongside my clients as they build resilience, strengthen relationships, and create lives that feel more connected and meaningful.

I am a counseling intern under the supervision of Brooke Buck, LPC.
